The "dmas" cells for the designware DMA controller need to have only 3 properties apart from the phandle: request line, src master and destination master. Note that for USB 3.1 hubs the valid range is 1-15. Increase the documented valid range in the binding to 255, which is the maximum allowed by the specifications. 2017-12-05hwmon: (jc42) optionally try to disable the SMBUS timeoutPeter Rosin

With a nxp,se97 chip on an atmel sama5d31 board, the I2C adapter driver is not always capable of avoiding the 25-35 ms timeout as specified by the SMBUS protocol. This may cause silent corruption of the last bit of any transfer, e.g. a one is read instead of a zero if the sensor chip times out. This also affects the eeprom half of the nxp-se97 chip, where this silent corruption was originally noticed. Other I2C adapters probably suffer similar issues, e.g. bit-banging comes to mind as risky... The SMBUS register in the nxp chip is not a standard Jedec register, but it is not special to the nxp chips either, at least the atmel chips have the same mechanism. Therefore, do not special case this on the manufacturer, it is opt-in via the device property anyway. [ Upstream commit 34c55cf2fc75f8bf6ba87df321038c064cf2d426 ] Currently dp83867 driver returns error if phy interface type PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_RGMII_RXID is used to set the rx only internal delay. Similarly issue happens for PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_RGMII_TXID. Fix this by checking also the interface type if a particular delay value is missing in the phy dt bindings. 2017-07-05Documentation: devicetree: change the mediatek ethernet compatible stringJohn Crispin
[ Upstream commit 61976fff20f92aceecc3670f6168bfc57a79e047 ] When the binding was defined, I was not aware that mt2701 was an earlier version of the SoC. For sake of consistency, the ethernet driver should use mt2701 inside the compat string as this is the earliest SoC with the ethernet core. The ethernet driver is currently of no real use until we finish and upstream the DSA driver. There are no users of this binding yet. It should be safe to fix this now before it is too late and we need to provide backward compatibility for the mt7623-eth compat string. 2017-07-05dt: bindings: net: use boolean dt properties for eee broken modesjbrunet
[ Upstream commit 308d3165d8b2b98d3dc3d97d6662062735daea67 ] The patches regarding eee-broken-modes was merged before all people involved could find an agreement on the best way to move forward. While we agreed on having a DT property to mark particular modes as broken, the value used for eee-broken-modes mapped the phy register in very direct way. Because of this, the concern is that it could be used to implement configuration policies instead of describing a broken HW. In the end, having a boolean property for each mode seems to be preferred over one bit field value mapping the register (too) directly. 2017-04-12watchdog: s3c2410: Fix infinite interrupt in soft modeKrzysztof Kozlowski
[ Upstream commit 0b445549ea6f91ffea78a976fe89b932db6e077a ] In soft (no-reboot) mode, the driver self-pings watchdog upon expiration of an interrupt. However the interrupt itself was not cleared thus on first hit, the system enters infinite interrupt handling loop. On Odroid U3 (Exynos4412), when booted with s3c2410_wdt.soft_noboot=1 argument the console is flooded: # killall -9 watchdog [ 60.523760] s3c2410-wdt 10060000.watchdog: watchdog timer expired (irq) [ 60.536744] s3c2410-wdt 10060000.watchdog: watchdog timer expired (irq) Fix this by writing something to the WTCLRINT register to clear the interrupt. The register WTCLRINT however appeared in S3C6410 so a new watchdog quirk and flavor are needed. 2017-04-12clocksource/drivers/arm_arch_timer: Don't assume clock runs in suspendBrian Norris
[ Upstream commit d8ec7595a013237f82d965dcf981571aeb41855b ] The ARM specifies that the system counter "must be implemented in an always-on power domain," and so we try to use the counter as a source of timekeeping across suspend/resume. Unfortunately, some SoCs (e.g., Rockchip's RK3399) do not keep the counter ticking properly when switched from their high-power clock to the lower-power clock used in system suspend. Support this quirk by adding a new device tree property. Since the A31s does not have MIPI DSI, it only has a mux for the HDMI controller input. This patch only adds support for the compatible strings. Actual support for the mux controls should be added with HDMI and MIPI DSI support. 2017-04-12drm/sun4i: Add compatible strings for A31/A31s display pipelinesChen-Yu Tsai
commit 49c440e87cd6f547f93d0dc53571ae0e11d9ec8f upstream. The A31's display pipeline has 2 frontends, 2 backends, and 2 TCONs. It also has new display enhancement blocks, such as the DRC (Dynamic Range Controller), the DEU (Display Enhancement Unit), and the CMU (Color Management Unit). It supports HDMI, MIPI DSI, and 2 LCD/LVDS channels. The A31s display pipeline is almost the same, just without MIPI DSI. Only the TCON seems to be different, due to the missing mux for MIPI DSI. Add compatible strings for both of them. RGMII requires special RX and/or TX delays depending on the actual hardware circuit/wiring. These delays can be added by the MAC, the PHY or the designer of the circuit (the latter means that no delay has to be added by PHY or MAC). There are 4 RGMII phy-modes used describe where a delay should be applied: - rgmii: the RX and TX delays are either added by the MAC (where the exact delay is typically configurable, and can be turned off when no extra delay is needed) or not needed at all (because the hardware wiring adds the delay already). The PHY should neither add the RX nor TX delay in this case. - rgmii-rxid: configures the PHY to enable the RX delay. The MAC should not add the RX delay in this case. - rgmii-txid: configures the PHY to enable the TX delay. The MAC should not add the TX delay in this case. - rgmii-id: combines rgmii-rxid and rgmii-txid and thus configures the PHY to enable the RX and TX delays. The MAC should neither add the RX nor TX delay in this case. Document these cases in the ethernet.txt documentation to make it clear when to use each mode. If applied incorrectly one might end up with MAC and PHY both enabling for example the TX delay, which breaks ethernet TX traffic on 1000Mbit/s links. The Aspeed SoCs have two BT interfaces : one is IPMI compliant and the other is H8S/2168 compliant. The current ipmi/bt-bmc driver implements the IPMI version and we should reflect its nature in the compatible node name using 'aspeed,ast2400-ibt-bmc' instead of 'aspeed,ast2400-bt-bmc'. pm_rst, aclk_rst, pclk_rst was controlled by ROM code so the software wasn't needed to control it again in theory. But it didn't work properly, so we do need to do it again and add enough delay between the assert of pm_rst and the deassert of pm_rst. The Soc intergrated with this controller, rk3399, is still under MP test internally, so the backward compatibility won't be a big deal. The SPI1 function was associated with the wrong pins: The functions that those pins provide is either an SPI debug or passthrough function coupled to SPI1. Make the SPI1 mux function configure the relevant pins and associate new SPI1DEBUG and SPI1PASSTHRU functions with the pins that were already defined. The notation used in the datasheet's multi-function pin table for the SoC is often creative: in this case the SYS* signals are enabled by a single bit, which is nothing unusual on its own, but in this case the bit was also participating in a multi-bit bitfield and therefore represented multiple functions. This fact was overlooked in the original patch. They didn't do horribly, but there were some issues (and we knew that because they simply didn't know what to do in the beginning). As a result, I had a set of patches that depended on some patches that normally would have come to you via Dave's tree. Those patches have been on netdev@ for a while, so I got Dave to give me his approval to send them to you. As such, the other 29 patches I had behind them are also now ready to go. This catches the hns and hns-roce drivers up to current, and for future patches we are working with them to get them up to speed on how to do joint driver development so that they don't have these sorts of cross tree dependency issues again. BTW, Dave gave me permission to add his Acked-by: to the patches against the net tree, but I've had this branch through 0day (but not linux-next since it was off by itself) and I didn't want to rebase the series just to add Dave's ack for the 8 patches in the net area.
