2015-06-05powerpc/85xx: Replace CONFIG_USB_ISP1760_HCD by CONFIG_USB_ISP1760Geert Uytterhoeven
Since commit 100832abf065bc18 ("usb: isp1760: Make HCD support optional"), CONFIG_USB_ISP1760_HCD is automatically selected when needed. Enabling that option in the defconfig is now a no-op, and no longer enables ISP1760 HCD support. Re-enable the ISP1760 driver in the defconfig by enabling USB_ISP1760_HOST_ROLE instead. 2015-01-20powerpc: Update all configs using savedefconfigMichael Ellerman
It looks like it's ~4 years since we updated some of these, so do a bulk update. Verified that the before and after generated configs are exactly the same. Which begs the question why update them? 2014-07-27staging: silicom: remove driverKristina Martšenko
The driver hasn't been cleaned up and it doesn't look like anyone is working on it anymore (including the original author). So remove it. If someone wants to work on cleaning the driver up and moving it out of staging, this commit can be reverted. In addition, since this removes the CONFIG_NET_VENDOR_SILICOM config symbol, remove the symbol from all defconfig files that reference it. It got a bit delayed in part because I wasn't paying attention, and in part because I discovered I had a core PCI change without a PCI maintainer ack in it. Bjorn eventually agreed it was ok to merge it though we'll probably improve it later and I didn't want to rebase to add his ack. There is going to be a bit more next week, essentially fixes that I still want to sort through and test. The biggest item this time is the support to build the ppc64 LE kernel with our new v2 ABI. We previously supported v2 userspace but the kernel itself was a tougher nut to crack. This is now sorted mostly thanks to Anton and Rusty. We also have a fairly big series from Cedric that add support for 64-bit LE zImage boot wrapper. This was made harder by the fact that traditionally our zImage wrapper was always 32-bit, but our new LE toolchains don't really support 32-bit anymore (it's somewhat there but not really "supported") so we didn't want to rely on it. This meant more churn that just endian fixes. This brings some more LE bits as well, such as the ability to run in LE mode without a hypervisor (ie. under OPAL firmware) by doing the right OPAL call to reinitialize the CPU to take HV interrupts in the right mode and the usual pile of endian fixes. There's another series from Gavin adding EEH improvements (one day we *will* have a release with less than 20 EEH patches, I promise!). Another highlight is the support for the "Split core" functionality on P8 by Michael. This allows a P8 core to be split into "sub cores" of 4 threads which allows the subcores to run different guests under KVM (the HW still doesn't support a partition per thread). 2014-05-22powerpc/mpc85xx: add support for Keymile's kmcoge4 boardValentin Longchamp
This patch introduces the support for Keymile's kmcoge4 board which is the internal reference design for boards based on Freescale's P2040/P2041 SoCs. This internal reference design is named kmp204x. The peripherals used on this board are: - SPI NOR Flash as bootloader medium - NAND Flash with a ubi partition - 2 PCIe busses (hosts 1 and 3) - 3 FMAN Ethernet devices (FMAN1 DTSEC1/2/5) - 4 Local Bus windows, with one dedicated to the QRIO reset/power mgmt CPLD - 2 I2C busses - last but not least, the mandatory serial port The patch also adds a defconfig file for this reference design that is necessary because of the lowmem option that must be set higher due to the number of PCIe devices with big ioremapped mem ranges on the boad. This board has soldered on flash, and a SODIMM flash module. Both can be used for booting, via switching JP12 and SW2.8 and using the sbc8548-altflash.dts when booting from SODIMM. Here we enable MTD in kernel so that we can see the bootloader (and other flash sectors) from linux. 2012-07-10powerpc: remove Wind River SBC8560 supportPaul Gortmaker
This reference board dates back to 2004, and is largely a legacy EOL product. The MPC8560 is a pre e500v2 CPU. The SBC8548 is a more modern, better e500v2 target for people to use as a reference board with today's kernels, should they require one. Removing support for it will also allow us to remove some sbc8560 specific quirk handling in 8250 UART code, and some MTD mapping support. 2011-01-20kconfig: rename CONFIG_EMBEDDED to CONFIG_EXPERTDavid Rientjes
The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than only small devices. This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes references to the option throughout the kernel. A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc). Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they are making should enable it. Supported are Ethernet, serial console, I2C, I2C-based RTC and temperature sensors, NOR and NAND flash, PCI, USB, CAN and Lime display controller. The multiplexing of FPGA interrupts onto PowerPC interrupt lines is supported through our own fpga_pic interrupt controller driver.
