commit d0694e2aeb815042aa0f3e5036728b3db4446f1d upstream. Unbreak Billionton CF bluetooth card. This actually fixes a regression on zaurus. Signed-off-by: Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
2010-08-02serial: cpm_uart: implement the cpm_uart_early_write() function for console pollDongdong Deng
commit 8cd774ad30c22b9d89823f1f05d845f4cdaba9e8 upstream. The cpm_uart_early_write() function which was used for console poll isn't implemented in the cpm uart driver. Implementing this function both fixes the build when CONFIG_CONSOLE_POLL is set and allows kgdboc to work via the cpm uart. 2010-05-26serial: imx.c: fix CTS trigger level lower to avoid lost charsValentin Longchamp
commit 1c5250d6163dac28be3afabdfb6c723f107051b7 upstream. The imx CTS trigger level is left at its reset value that is 32 chars. Since the RX FIFO has 32 entries, when CTS is raised, the FIFO already is full. However, some serial port devices first empty their TX FIFO before stopping when CTS is raised, resulting in lost chars. This patch sets the trigger level lower so that other chars arrive after CTS is raised, there is still room for 16 of them. 2010-03-15serial: imx: fix NULL dereference Oops when pdata == NULLBaruch Siach
commit bbcd18d1b37413d25eaf4580682b1b8e4a09ff5e upstream. The platform code doesn't have to provide platform data to get sensible default behaviour from the imx serial driver. This patch does not handle NULL dereference in the IrDA case, which still requires a valid platform data pointer (in imx_startup()/imx_shutdown()), since I don't know whether there is a sensible default behaviour, or should the operation just fail cleanly. 2010-02-23serial: 8250: add serial transmitter fully empty testDick Hollenbeck
commit bca476139d2ded86be146dae09b06e22548b67f3 upstream. When controlling an industrial radio modem it can be necessary to manipulate the handshake lines in order to control the radio modem's transmitter, from userspace. The transmitter should not be turned off before all characters have been transmitted. serial8250_tx_empty() was reporting that all characters were transmitted before they actually were. === Discovered in parallel with more testing and analysis by Kees Schoenmakers as follows: I ran into an NetMos 9835 serial pci board which behaves a little different than the standard. This type of expansion board is very common. "Standard" 8250 compatible devices clear the 'UART_LST_TEMT" bit together with the "UART_LSR_THRE" bit when writing data to the device. The NetMos device does it slightly different I believe that the TEMT bit is coupled to the shift register. The problem is that after writing data to the device and very quickly after that one does call serial8250_tx_empty, it returns the wrong information. My patch makes the test more robust (and solves the problem) and it does not affect the already correct devices. Alan: We may yet need to quirk this but now we know which chips we have a way to do that should we find this breaks some other 8250 clone with dodgy THRE. 2009-11-30tty/of_serial: add missing ns16550a idMichal Simek
Many boards have a bug-free ns16550 compatible serial port, which we should register as PORT_16550A. This introduces a new value "ns16550a" for the compatible property of of_serial to let a firmware choose that model instead of using the crippled PORT_16550 mode. 2009-11-24serial: suncore: Fix RSC/LOM handling in sunserial_console_termios().David S. Miller
RSC and LOM devices have fixed speed settings. We already had some code to match and handle "rsc" named devices on E250 systems, but we also have to handle 'rsc-console', 'rsc-control', and 'lom-console'. Also, in order to get this right regardless of what 'output-device' happens to be, explicitly pass the UART device node pointer to this routine. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-11-24serial: suncore: Add 'ignore_line' argument to sunserial_console_match().David S. Miller
This tells the logic to ignore the line match when deciding whether the device is the OpenFirmware specified console device or not. This is going to be used in the SU driver for rsc-console detection. There is probably a better way to handle this, but this is the least intrusive solution for now which we can validate won't break any other cases. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-11-24sunsu: Fix detection of SU ports which are RSC console or control.David S. Miller
These device nodes are named "rsc-console" and "rsc-control" rather than 'serial', but the device_type property is 'serial' so we'll tip off of that for detection. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-11-24sunsab: Do not set sunsab_reg.cons right before registering minors.David S. Miller
Other Sun serial drivers do not do this, and if we keep it this way it ends up registering all serial devices as consoles rather than just the one which we explicitly register via sunserial_console_match() which uses add_preferred_console(). Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2009-10-01serial: add parameter to force skipping the test for the TXEN bugChuck Ebbert
Allow users to force skipping the TXEN test at init time. Applies to all serial ports. Intended for debugging only. There is a blacklist for devices where we need to skip the test but the list is not complete. This lets users force skipping the test so we can determine if they need to be added to the list. Some HP machines with weird serial consoles have this problem and there may be more. 2009-09-19Set proper console speed on resume if console suspend is disabledDeepak Saxena
Commit b5b82df6, from May 2007, breaks no_console_suspend on the OLPC XO laptop. Basically what happens is that upon returning from resume, serial8250_resume_port() will reconfigure the port for high speed mode and all console output will be garbled, making debug of the resume path painful. This patch modifies uart_resume_port() to reset the port to the state it was in before we suspended. Original patch by Marcelo Tosatti Second patch by Deepak then reworked by Alan to fit with the tty changes before it got submitted. Also fixed the console path to set c_i/ospeed as some drivers require the termios fields are valid Signed-off-by: Deepak Saxena <dsaxena@laptop.org> Signed-off-by: Alan Cox <alan@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
