When IDLETIMER rule is added, sysfs file is created under
/sys/class/xt_idletimer/timers/
But some label name shouldn't be used.
".", "..", "power", "uevent", "subsystem", etc...
So that sysfs filename checking routine is needed.

Allow /0 as advertised for hash:net,port,net sets.
For "hash:net,port,net", ipset(8) says that "either subnet
is permitted to be a /0 should you wish to match port
between all destinations."
Make that statement true.

xt_copy_counters_from_user

syzkaller reports an out of bound read in strlcpy(), triggered
by xt_copy_counters_from_user()
Fix this by using memcpy(), then forcing a zero byte at the last position
of the destination, as Florian did for the non COMPAT code.

We came across infinite loop in ipvs when using ipvs in docker
env.
When ipvs receives new packets and cannot find an ipvs connection,
it will create a new connection, then if the dest is unavailable
(i.e. IP_VS_DEST_F_AVAILABLE), the packet will be dropped sliently.
But if the dropped packet is the first packet of this connection,
the connection control timer never has a chance to start and the
ipvs connection cannot be released. This will lead to memory leak, or
infinite loop in cleanup_net() when net namespace is released like
this:

When first DCCP packet is SYNC or SYNCACK, we insert a new conntrack
that has an un-initialized timeout value, i.e. such entry could be
reaped at any time.
Mark them as INVALID and only ignore SYNC/SYNCACK when connection had
an old state.

The old code would indefinitely block other users of nf_log_mutex if
a userspace access in proc_dostring() blocked e.g. due to a userfaultfd
region. Fix it by moving proc_dostring() out of the locked region.
This is a followup to commit 266d07cb1c9a ("netfilter: nf_log: fix
sleeping function called from invalid context"), which changed this code
from using rcu_read_lock() to taking nf_log_mutex.

syzkaller reports for buffer overflow for interface name
when starting sync daemons [1]
What we do is that we copy user structure into larger stack
buffer but later we search NUL past the stack buffer.
The same happens for sched_name when adding/editing virtual server.
We are restricted by IP_VS_SCHEDNAME_MAXLEN and IP_VS_IFNAME_MAXLEN
being used as size in include/uapi/linux/ip_vs.h, so they
include the space for NUL.
As using strlcpy is wrong for unsafe source, replace it with
strscpy and add checks to return EINVAL if source string is not
NUL-terminated. The incomplete strlcpy fix comes from 2.6.13.
For the netlink interface reduce the len parameter for
IPVS_DAEMON_ATTR_MCAST_IFN and IPVS_SVC_ATTR_SCHED_NAME,
so that we get proper EINVAL.

syzkaller reports for wrong rtnl_lock usage in sync code [1] and [2]
We have 2 problems in start_sync_thread if error path is
taken, eg. on memory allocation error or failure to configure
sockets for mcast group or addr/port binding:
1. recursive locking: holding rtnl_lock while calling sock_release
which in turn calls again rtnl_lock in ip_mc_drop_socket to leave
the mcast group, as noticed by Florian Westphal. Additionally,
sock_release can not be called while holding sync_mutex (ABBA
deadlock).
2. task hung: holding rtnl_lock while calling kthread_stop to
stop the running kthreads. As the kthreads do the same to leave
the mcast group (sock_release -> ip_mc_drop_socket -> rtnl_lock)
they hang.
Fix the problems by calling rtnl_unlock early in the error path,
now sock_release is called after unlocking both mutexes.
Problem 3 (task hung reported by syzkaller [2]) is variant of
problem 2: use _trylock to prevent one user to call rtnl_lock and
then while waiting for sync_mutex to block kthreads that execute
sock_release when they are stopped by stop_sync_thread.

If nf_conntrack_htable_size was adjusted by the user during the ct
dump operation, we may invoke nf_ct_put twice for the same ct, i.e.
the "last" ct. This will cause the ct will be freed but still linked
in hash buckets.
It's very easy to reproduce the problem by the following commands:

echo $RANDOM > /proc/sys/net/netfilter/nf_conntrack_buckets
done
# while : ; do
conntrack -L
done
# iperf -s 127.0.0.1 &
# iperf -c 127.0.0.1 -P 60 -t 36000
After a while, the system will hang like this:

So at last if we find cb->args[1] is equal to "last", this means hash
resize happened, then we can set cb->args[1] to 0 to fix the above

recent and hashlimit both create /proc files, but only check that
name is 0 terminated.
This can trigger WARN() from procfs when name is "" or "/".
Add helper for this and then use it for both.

There are two cases which causes refcnt leak.
1. When nf_ct_timeout_ext_add failed in xt_ct_set_timeout, it should
free the timeout refcnt.
Now goto the err_put_timeout error handler instead of going ahead.
2. When the time policy is not found, we should call module_put.
Otherwise, the related cthelper module cannot be removed anymore.
It is easy to reproduce by typing the following command:
# iptables -t raw -A OUTPUT -p tcp -j CT --helper ftp --timeout xxx

instead of allocating each xt_counter individually, allocate 4k chunks
and then use these for counter allocation requests.
This should speed up rule evaluation by increasing data locality,
also speeds up ruleset loading because we reduce calls to the percpu
allocator.
As Eric points out we can't use PAGE_SIZE, page_allocator would fail on
arches with 64k page size.

On SMP we overload the packet counter (unsigned long) to contain
percpu offset. Hide this from callers and pass xt_counters address
instead.
Preparation patch to allocate the percpu counters in page-sized batch
chunks.

We had one report from syzkaller [1]
First issue is that INIT_WORK() should be done before mod_timer()
or we risk timer being fired too soon, even with a 1 second timer.
Second issue is that we need to reject too big info->timeout
to avoid overflows in msecs_to_jiffies(info->timeout * 1000), or
risk looping, if result after overflow is 0.

The problem is that currently we don't have any check on the
configured port range. A port range == -1 triggers the bug, while
other negative values may require a very long time to complete the
following loop.
This commit addresses the issue swapping the two ends on negative
ranges. The check is performed in nf_nat_l4proto_unique_tuple() since
the nft nat loads the port values from nft registers at runtime.

The ledinternal struct can be shared between several different
xt_LED targets, but the related timer is currently initialized only
if the first target requires it. Fix it by unconditionally
initializing the timer struct.

The proc_create() and remove_proc_entry() functions do not reference
their arguments when CONFIG_PROC_FS is disabled, so we get a couple
of warnings about unused variables in IPVS:

rateest_hash is supposed to be protected by xt_rateest_mutex,
and, as suggested by Eric, lookup and insert should be atomic,
so we should acquire the xt_rateest_mutex once for both.
So introduce a non-locking helper for internal use and keep the
locking one for external.

It looks like syzbot found its way into netfilter territory.
Issue here is that @name comes from user space and might
not be null terminated.
Out-of-bound reads happen, KASAN is not happy.

syzkaller triggered OOM kills by passing ipt_replace.size = -1
to IPT_SO_SET_REPLACE. The root cause is that SMP_ALIGN() in
xt_alloc_table_info() causes int overflow and the size check passes
when it should not. SMP_ALIGN() is no longer needed leftover.
Remove SMP_ALIGN() call in xt_alloc_table_info().

The simple fix for this requires a new pernet variable for struct
nf_queue that indicates when it is safe to use the dynamically
allocated nf_queue state.
As we need a variable anyway make nf_register_queue_handler and
nf_unregister_queue_handler pernet. This allows the existing logic of
when it is safe to use the state from the nfnetlink_queue module to be
reused with no changes except for making it per net.
The syncrhonize_rcu from nf_unregister_queue_handler is moved to a new
function nfnl_queue_net_exit_batch so that the worst case of having a
syncrhonize_rcu in the pernet exit path is not experienced in batch
mode.

The capability check in nfnetlink_rcv() verifies that the caller
has CAP_NET_ADMIN in the namespace that "owns" the netlink socket.
However, xt_osf_fingers is shared by all net namespaces on the
system. An unprivileged user can create user and net namespaces
in which he holds CAP_NET_ADMIN to bypass the netlink_net_capable()
check:
vpnns -- nfnl_osf -f /tmp/pf.os
vpnns -- nfnl_osf -f /tmp/pf.os -d
These non-root operations successfully modify the systemwide OS
fingerprint list. Add new capable() checks so that they can't.

pointer, so check it is NULL or not will always return true. Even if the

The dummy ruleset I used to test the original validation change was broken,
most rules were unreachable and were not tested by mark_source_chains().
In some cases rulesets that used to load in a few seconds now require
several minutes.

This ruleset will be about 74mbyte in size, with ~500k searches
though all 500k[1] rule entries. iptables-restore will take forever
(gave up after 10 minutes)
Instead of always searching the entire blob for a match, fill an
array with the start offsets of every single ipt_entry struct,
then do a binary search to check if the jump target is present or not.
After this change ruleset restore times get again close to what one
gets when reverting 36472341017529e (~3 seconds on my workstation).
[1] every user-defined rule gets an implicit RETURN, so we get
300k jumps + 100k userchains + 100k returns -> 500k rule entries

The nf_ct_helper_hash table is protected by nf_ct_helper_mutex, while
nfct_helper operation is protected by nfnl_lock(NFNL_SUBSYS_CTHELPER).
So it's possible that one CPU is walking the nf_ct_helper_hash for
cthelper add/get/del, another cpu is doing nf_conntrack_helpers_unregister
at the same time. This is dangrous, and may cause use after free error.
Note, delete operation will flush all cthelpers added via nfnetlink, so
using rcu to do protect is not easy.
Now introduce a dummy list to record all the cthelpers added via
nfnetlink, then we can walk the dummy list instead of walking the
nf_ct_helper_hash. Also, keep nfnl_cthelper_dump_table unchanged, it
may be invoked without nfnl_lock(NFNL_SUBSYS_CTHELPER) held.

So we should deal with PACKET_LOOPBACK in netdev family too. For ipv4,

Commit 4dee62b1b9b4 ("netfilter: nf_ct_expect: nf_ct_expect_insert()
returns void") inadvertently changed the successful return value of
nf_ct_expect_related_report() from 0 to 1 due to
__nf_ct_expect_check() returning 1 on success. Prevent this
regression in the future by changing the return value of
__nf_ct_expect_check() to 0 on success.

The helper->expect_class_max must be set to the total number of
expect_policy minus 1, since we will use the statement "if (class >
helper->expect_class_max)" to validate the CTA_EXPECT_CLASS attr in
ctnetlink_alloc_expect.
So for compatibility, set the helper->expect_class_max to the
NFCTH_POLICY_SET_NUM attr's value minus 1.
Also: it's invalid when the NFCTH_POLICY_SET_NUM attr's value is zero.
1. this will result "expect_policy = kzalloc(0, GFP_KERNEL);";
2. we cannot set the helper->expect_class_max to a proper value.
So if nla_get_be32(tb[NFCTH_POLICY_SET_NUM]) is zero, report -EINVAL to
the userspace.

Otherwise, another CPU may access the invalid pointer. For example:

_hook_ = NULL; -
mod unload -
- pfunc(); // invalid, panic
- rcu_read_unlock();
So we must call synchronize_rcu() to wait the rcu reader to finish.
Also note, in nf_nat_snmp_basic_fini, synchronize_rcu() will be invoked
by later nf_conntrack_helper_unregister, but I'm inclined to add a
explicit synchronize_rcu after set the nf_nat_snmp_hook to NULL. Depend
on such obscure assumptions is not a good idea.
Last, in nfnetlink_cttimeout, we use kfree_rcu to free the time object,
so in cttimeout_exit, invoking rcu_barrier() is not necessary at all,
remove it too.

If one cpu is doing nf_ct_extend_unregister while another cpu is doing
__nf_ct_ext_add_length, then we may hit BUG_ON(t == NULL). Moreover,
there's no synchronize_rcu invocation after set nf_ct_ext_types[id] to
NULL, so it's possible that we may access invalid pointer.
But actually, most of the ct extends are built-in, so the problem listed
above will not happen. However, there are two exceptions: NF_CT_EXT_NAT
and NF_CT_EXT_SYNPROXY.
For _EXT_NAT, the panic will not happen, since adding the nat extend and
unregistering the nat extend are located in the same file(nf_nat_core.c),
this means that after the nat module is removed, we cannot add the nat
extend too.
For _EXT_SYNPROXY, synproxy extend may be added by init_conntrack, while
synproxy extend unregister will be done by synproxy_core_exit. So after
nf_synproxy_core.ko is removed, we may still try to add the synproxy
extend, then kernel panic may happen.
I know it's very hard to reproduce this issue, but I can play a tricky
game to make it happen very easily :)
Step 1. Enable SYNPROXY for tcp dport 1234 at FORWARD hook:
# iptables -I FORWARD -p tcp --dport 1234 -j SYNPROXY
Step 2. Queue the syn packet to the userspace at raw table OUTPUT hook.
Also note, in the userspace we only add a 20s' delay, then
reinject the syn packet to the kernel:
# iptables -t raw -I OUTPUT -p tcp --syn -j NFQUEUE --queue-num 1
Step 3. Using "nc 2.2.2.2 1234" to connect the server.
Step 4. Now remove the nf_synproxy_core.ko quickly:
# iptables -F FORWARD
# rmmod ipt_SYNPROXY
# rmmod nf_synproxy_core
Step 5. After 20s' delay, the syn packet is reinjected to the kernel.
Now you will see the panic like this:

One possible solution is to make NF_CT_EXT_SYNPROXY extend built-in, i.e.
introduce nf_conntrack_synproxy.c and only do ct extend register and
unregister in it, similar to nf_conntrack_timeout.c.
But having such a obscure restriction of nf_ct_extend_unregister is not a
good idea, so we should invoke synchronize_rcu after set nf_ct_ext_types
to NULL, and check the NULL pointer when do __nf_ct_ext_add_length. Then
it will be easier if we add new ct extend in the future.
Last, we use kfree_rcu to free nf_ct_ext, so rcu_barrier() is unnecessary
anymore, remove it too.

We do not check if packet from real server is for NAT
connection before performing SNAT. This causes problems
for setups that use DR/TUN and allow local clients to
access the real server directly, for example:
- local client in director creates IPVS-DR/TUN connection
CIP->VIP and the request packets are routed to RIP.
Talks are finished but IPVS connection is not expired yet.
- second local client creates non-IPVS connection CIP->RIP
with same reply tuple RIP->CIP and when replies are received
on LOCAL_IN we wrongly assign them for the first client
connection because RIP->CIP matches the reply direction.
As result, IPVS SNATs replies for non-IPVS connections.
The problem is more visible to local UDP clients but in rare
cases it can happen also for TCP or remote clients when the
real server sends the reply traffic via the director.
So, better to be more precise for the reply traffic.
As replies are not expected for DR/TUN connections, better
to not touch them.

This patch fixes the creation of connection tracking entry from
netlink when synproxy is used. It was missing the addition of
the synproxy extension.
This was causing kernel crashes when a conntrack entry created by
conntrackd was used after the switch of traffic from active node
to the passive node.

If nlh->nlmsg_len is zero then an infinite loop is triggered because
'skb_pull(skb, msglen);' pulls zero bytes.
The calculation in nlmsg_len() underflows if 'nlh->nlmsg_len <
NLMSG_HDRLEN' which bypasses the length validation and will later
trigger an out-of-bound read.
If the length validation does fail then the malformed batch message is
copied back to userspace. However, we cannot do this because the
nlh->nlmsg_len can be invalid. This leads to an out-of-bounds read in
netlink_ack:

Fix this with better validation of nlh->nlmsg_len and by setting
