From 0f841590fefb1a05519446143a64ea5e83428819 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Uwe Kleine-König Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2024 10:53:47 +0100 Subject: misc: fastrpc: Convert to platform remove callback returning void MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. With current implementation HLOS VM is stored in the channel structure during rpmsg_probe and this VM is passed to qcom_scm call as the source VM. The qcom_scm call will overwrite the passed source VM with the next VM which would cause a problem in case the scm call is again needed. Adding a local copy of source VM whereever scm call is made to avoid this problem.
